Single-Stream Recycling

Single-stream recycling allows residents to place all single-stream recyclable materials into the blue, Township-issued cart. Single-stream recycling will be collected once a week on the same day as household garbage, on a designated day based on our zone schedule. Carts must be at the curb before 6:00 a.m. on the day of collection but not before 6 p.m. the evening before collection.

Single-stream materials include but are not limited to:

  • cardboard
  • pizza boxes
  • chipboard
  • paper
  • cereal boxes
  • greeting cards
  • newspaper
  • mail including junk mail
  • envelopes
  • gift boxes
  • paper towel cores
  • glass
  • plastic bottles with caps
  • aluminum cans
  • magazines
  • toilet paper cores
  • tin cans
  • shredded paper in a box or brown bag
  • telephone books
  • tissue boxes
  • non-foil gift wrap
  • plastic salad containers
  • yogurt/margarine tubs

All single-stream materials are to be placed loose in the blue recycling cart. Do not place plastic bags in the blue cart.  Only that material which is in the cart will be collected.  Drivers will not exit the vehicles to collect loose bags or boxes.  Cardboard boxes may not be used as containers for any type of garbage, rubbish, trash or debris, including yard and/or vegetative waste.  Only single-stream materials in the blue cart will be collected.

*Plastic bottles include all items with recycling numbers 1-7.  These are bottles/containers used for milk, water, soda, laundry detergent, shampoo, hair conditioner.

The following items are NOT recyclable, and should be placed in the green garbage cart:

Glass - dishes, drinking glasses, ceramics, mirrors, light bulbs, ovenware (Pyrex) windows and clay pots

Aluminum - pie plates, kitchen pots and pans, foil and baking pans

Tin - paint cans, aerosol cans, kitchen pots and pans

Plastic - flower pots, Tupperware-type, any styrofoam products, flash lights or any containers that have held motor oil or antifreeze

Paper - paper towels, paper napkins, tissues, carbon paper, blueprints, plastic or wax coated paper, food contaminated paper (ex: bakery boxes),  shredded paper placed in plastic bags


ZONE SCHEDULE

  • Zone 1 will be collected every Tuesday
  • Zone 2 will be collected every Wednesday
  • Zone 3 will be collected every Thursday
  • Zone 4 will be collected every Friday

Mondays are designated for the collection of bulk trash.  Metal and appliances will be collected on the fifth Monday of a month.


HOLIDAY SCHEDULE

The Sanitation Division works all holidays except New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.  When New Year's Day or Christmas Day falls on a Saturday it is observed on the preceding Friday; if the holiday falls on Sunday, it is observed on the following Monday.
