The Township of Ocean operates under the Faulkner Act (Council-Manager) form of government in which the Township Manager is responsible for carrying out all policies established by the Council and, except where otherwise specified in the code or the Charter, the Manager shall appoint and remove all department heads and all other officers, subordinates and assistants.
The Township is a full-service community with approximately 175 full-time and 40 part-time employees spread across the following departments:

- Community Development

- Human Services
- Municipal Court
- Office of Emergency Management
- Police Department
- Public Works
