HEROIN ARREST

ACCUSED: Joseph G. Birdsall, Age 22 of Pt. Pleasant Beach
Steven T. Deputter, Age 46 of Wall Twp.

NARRATIVE
     On 12/06/07, officers of the Special Assignment Unit were on patrol in the Seaview Mall area. Officers observed a drug transaction between two males in the parking lot near Sears. At the conclusion of the drug transaction, one of the males, later identified as Steven T. Deputter, got into a Pontiac with the other male later identified as Joseph G. Birdsall and began to drive away. Officer Kelesidis and Officer Crosta then followed and pulled the Pontiac over along the service road adjacent to Value City. Further investigation revealed that Deputter was in possession of seven bags of heroin. Both Deputter and Birdsall were arrested and Taken to OTPD for further processing.
     Both Deputter and Birdsall were charged with Possession of Heroin, Conspiracy to Possess Heroin and Loitering with Intent to obtain Heroin. Deputter also had an active warrant for his arrest out of Wall Twp. He was later taken to Monmouth County Jail on $2500.00 bail. Birdsall was later released on a criminal summons.
