DRUG ARREST AFTER HIT
AND RUN

ACCUSED: William Concepcion Jr, Age 33 of Long Branch
NARRATIVE
On 10/20/2007 at 7:00 pm, Police were called to the
intersection of Poplar Road and Willow Drive in reference to a motor vehicle
crash involving a hit and run. Sgt. Michael Clancy and Officer Jeffery
Malone responded to the scene. Officers determined that a 2002 Nissan van
driven by William Concepcion was traveling south on Poplar Road and rear
ended a 2001 Toyota Camry as it was stopped on Poplar Road to make a left
turn onto Willow Drive. Concepcion subsequently left the scene after the
collision but did not make it far due to the damage on his Nissan caused by
the crash. Officer John Green happened to be in the area and observed
Concepcion stop his vehicle at the intersection of Poplar Road and Poplar
Place. Further investigation revealed that Concepcion was in possession of 8
small plastic baggies of cocaine and a homemade pipe commonly used to ingest
a controlled dangerous substance. He also was driving on an expired license.
He was subsequently arrested and transported to OTPD for further processing.
The driver of the Toyota, a 24 year-old male from Huntington, NY, was not
injured during the crash.
Concepcion was charged with Possession of Cocaine with
Intent to Distribute, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Drug
Paraphernalia, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Possessing a Controlled
Dangerous Substance in a Motor Vehicle, Careless Driving and Driving with an
expired License. He was later released on a criminal summons.
