PIRATED DVD ARRESTS

NARRATIVE
On 10/13/2007 at 6:16 PM, Officers of the Special
Assignment Unit were conducting specific patrol targeting quality of life
issues in the Seaview Mall area. Officer Kelesidis observed the occupants of
a parked vehicle engaging in suspicious activity. Further investigation
revealed that the passenger, identified as Darren Riley was in possession of
heroin and the driver, identified as Paul Garramone was in possession of a
knife. Officers also found a backpack in the vehicle containing 42 DVD
movies which were all later found to be illegally copied and being offered
for sale by Riley. Both were arrested at the scene and transported to OTPD
for further processing.
Riley was charged with Possession of Heroin and
Pirating Recordings. He also had outstanding warrants for his arrest from
the Monmouth County Superior Court, Hudson County Superior Court and Neptune
Township Court. He was later transported to Monmouth County Jail on
$63,306.00 bail. Garramone was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
He was later released on a criminal summons.
