CRASHES RESULT IN 3 DWI ARRETS

NARRATIVE
The Ocean Township Police investigated three separate
motor vehicle crashes that resulted in three DWI arrests over this Labor Day
weekend. The crashes occurred as follows:
On 8/31/07 at 8:11 pm, a 1996 Toyota driven by Andrew
Lombardo, age 18 of Ocean Township backed out of a driveway on Bowne Road
and struck a 1956 historic Cadillac being operated by a 46-year-old male
also of Ocean Township. No one was injured. Lombardo then fled the scene. He
was later located at his residence by Officer Kevin Donohoe and arrested for
DWI.
On 9/2/07 at 2:10 am, a 2006 Jeep Wrangler being
operated by Craig E. Hulse, age 23 of Jacksonville, Florida, was traveling
west on Roseld Ave near Surray Lane. Hulse lost control of the Jeep and left
the roadway. The Jeep then flipped over and came to a final rest on its
roof. Officer Jeffrey Malone arrived on scene. He found Hulse and his
24-year-old male passenger out of the Jeep with minor scrapes and bruises.
Further investigation revealed that Hulse was driving while intoxicated.
Both Hulse and his passenger were taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center.
Hulse was later charged with DWI. He was also issued a summons for reckless
driving
On 9/2/07 at 2:58 am, a 1994 green Ford Minivan, being
operated by Daniel F. Lopez, age 35 of Neptune, rear ended a 1996 white Ford
Minivan being operated by Tenedoro S. Riano, age 25 of Ocean Township, that
was stopped for the traffic light on Hwy# 35 north at the intersection of
Deal Road. Subsequently, after rear ending the white Minivan, Lopez’s van
then continued through the intersection and struck a traffic light stanchion
pole at the corner of the intersection. Riano, the operator of the white
Minivan then left the scene. Officer Leslie Laffan responded to the scene.
Laffan found Lopez to be intoxicated and with serious injuries. Also,
several empty cans of beer were found in his vehicle. Lopez’s passenger, a
29-year-old male also of Neptune suffered minor injuries. Both were
transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center for further treatment. Lopez was
charged with DWI and issued a traffic summons for careless driving.
Meanwhile, Riano was later located at his residence in the Twinbrook
Apartment Complex. Further investigation revealed that Riano was driving
with a suspended drivers license. He was issued traffic summonses for
driving while suspended, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash and
failing to report a motor vehicle crash. Riano did not suffer any injuries.
Hwy 35 was closed for several hours while the
Department Of Transportation Crews worked to repair the traffic light.
