4 ARRESTED AT DWI CHECKPOINT

LOCATION: Asbury Park Circle

NARRATIVE
     The Ocean Township Police in conjunction with Monmouth County DWI strike force conducted a sobriety checkpoint on the Asbury Park Circle during the evening of 8/31 11:00 pm into 9/1 until 3:00 am. As a result, police arrested four individuals as follows:
     At midnight 9/1/07, Sgt. Eduardo Segarra arrested a 17-year-old male from Tinton Falls for possessing less than fifty grams of marijuana. The male was subsequently taken to OTPD processed and later released to his parents.
     At 12:41 am 9/1/07, Officer Michael Legg arrested Richard T. Leonard Jr., Age 32 for Ocean Twp. for possessing cocaine. Leonard was taken to OTPD where he was processed and charged with possessing cocaine and possessing drug paraphernalia. Leonard was later released on a criminal summons. Police also seized Leonard’s vehicle, a 1991 Ford Explorer under the state criminal forfeiture guidelines.
     At 2:00 am 9/1/07, Officer Jeffrey Malone and Officer Bryan Morgan arrested Michael O. Stratton, Age 19 from Neptune and a 17-year-old male also of Neptune for possessing marijuana. During the arrest Stratton ran from the Officers but was immediately chased down by Officer Morgan who ultimately took Stratton into custody behind a Parkview Ave residence. Stratton was then taken to OTPD where he was processed and charged with Unlawful Possession of a folding knife, possession of less than fifty grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest. The 17-year-old was also taken to OTPD and charged with possession of less than fifty grams of marijuana. He was later released to his parents. Stratton was released on a criminal summons.
