STUDENT INJURED IN PRANK

ACCUSED: 13 year old Ocean Township juvenile

NARRATIVE
     On February 26th, a Township of Ocean Intermediate School 7th grade student was injured when he sat down on a sharpened pencil while in class. The incident, which reportedly began as a prank, occurred when a fellow classmate held the sharpened pencil in place as the victim unsuspectingly sat in his chair. The victim was brought to the nurses’ office and eventually taken for emergency treatment by the victim’s mother. The accused was suspended from school by school officials. The family of the victim has not made a decision whether to pursue criminal complaints against the accused juvenile. The case will continue to be investigated by Detective Sgt. Thomas Burke of the department’s juvenile section of the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
