Coordinates activities for the office including items for the Clean Communities Advisory Board, Clean Sweep and statistical reports.
Recycling & Litter Enforcement/Abatement
Responsible for the enforcement of litter and garbage complaints on commercial and residential properties along with garbage/recycling containers issues. Also handles litter control on all township properties.
Role of Clean Communities Litter Control / Enforcement
The Clean Communities Litter Control / Enforcement division maintains the township parks and properties by collecting the garbage and recycling periodically. They also receive complaints and are responsible for the enforcement of the Township Revised General Ordinances and the Property Maintenance Codes in involving garbage, recycling and litter. The Clean Communities Enforcement either self-observes the violations or receives complaints from the public and/or other governmental agencies and inspects commercial and residential properties garbage and recycling containers for compliance to any local, county and state regulations.
Upon observing a violation, a Clean Communities Enforcementdocuments the conditions through:
- visual observation
- written reports
- photographic evidence
Whenever possible, personal contact is made with the property owner and/or person responsible for the violation and a violation notice is issued to the owner. The notice states:
- the nature of the infraction
- what must be done to correct the violation
- any administrative relief processes available
- the enforcement avenue which will be taken if the violation is not corrected
- the date by which correction is required
