Adopt-A-Spot Program Guidelines

The Township of Ocean's Adopt-A-Spot Program is similar to the State's Adopt-A-Highway Program. Both programs require participants to keep an area litter-free. The Township's Program also allow participants to beautify the area. The following are the guidelines for the Ocean Township Adopt-A-Spot program:

  1. Select a site, or the Clean Communities Advisory Committee will assist your in the selection of a site. Click here for a list of spots. In determining the site, decide whether or not you can handle the work on your own or need a group of friends, or neighbors to assist.

  2. Click here for an application form.

  3. You are required to keep the site litter-free

  4. This is a year-round commitment .

  5. If you choose to beautify your "Spot" with plantings, consider the appropriate plants for the area and the water that would be required to keep them properly maintained. Low maintenance and water conserving plants are recommended.

  6. Plantings of trees and shrubs requires prior approval from the Committee due to the possible limitation of visibility with respect to traffic safety.

  7. You must contact the Clean Communities Coordinator prior to conducting any work at your site. A site visit must be coordinated so the Clean Communities Coordinator can advise you as to where you can plant, clear, etc. so environmentally sensitive areas are not disturbed.

  8. If you wish to use mulch at your site, it is available at the Palaia Park Compost Facility at no cost.

  9. Please dispose of litter and recyclables in the proper manner. Bottles and cans must be RECYCLED and be kept separate from the litter.

  10. If at anytime you determine you are no longer able to participate, please immediately advise the Township by calling the Clean Communities Coordinator.

  11. If you have any questions or need to arrange a site visit, contact Ocean's Clean Communities Coordinator at 732-531-5000, ext. 364.
