Single-Stream Recycling

Monmouth County Recycling Guide

SINGLE STREAM RECYCLING eliminates the need to separate recyclable materials. This allows residents to place all recyclable materials into the blue Township-issued cart.  There are many benefits to Recycling.  Recycled materials that would have otherwise become waste and fill our landfills are being recycled into other valuable resources. Although Recycling is a STATE LAW, it also making a big difference for our community.

Recycling will be collected once a week, on the same day as household garbage. Collection day is based by our zone schedule.  Carts must be at the curb before 6:00 a.m. on the day of collection but not before 6 p.m. the evening before collection.

All single-stream materials are to be placed loose in the blue recycling cart; do not place plastic bags in the blue recycle cart.  Only that material which is in this cart will be collected.  Drivers will not exit the vehicles to collect loose bags or boxes.  Cardboard boxes may not be used as containers for any type of garbage, rubbish, trash or debris, including yard and/or vegetative waste.  Only single-stream materials in the blue cart will be collected.

*Plastic bottles include all items with recycling numbers 1-7.  These are bottles/containers used for milk, water, soda, laundry detergent, shampoo, hair conditioner.

The following items are NOT recyclable, and should be placed in the green garbage cart:
